More than just a library, a cultural center

The Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand is the main source of fun and entertainment in the district. It has four angular, glass towers symbolizing four open books constructed on a huge esplanade. It houses part of the French National Library's collection and has reading rooms and exhibition rooms, as well as a movie theater. For those who love green spaces, Parc Bercy is only a few minutes' walk from the library. Indeed, the esplanade is directly connected to the park by the Simon de Beauvoir walkway.

From sportsmen, to artists

At the foot of the library stands the Piscine Joséphine Baker, a rather original open-air swimming pool. Other interesting features include the refrigerated warehouses that were converted into art workshops in the 1990s. Today, more than 200 artists work every day in this vast complex renamed Les Frigos (The Fridges). Every spring, they open their doors free of charge to the public. You will find everything you need here: local stores, recreation centers, restaurants, transport, etc.

A district on the edge of Paris

The François-Mitterrand library district is accessible from Quai de la Gare metro station, served by line 6, Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand metro station, served by line 14, and the RER C. The proximity of the beltway makes it an easy-to-access district.
