Porte de Bagnolet, an area away from the tourist trail
In 1907, the Campagne à Paris (Countryside in Paris) cooperative set up a program to build houses near Porte de Bagnolet, on a site riddled with former quarries and therefore unsuitable for the construction of tall buildings. Each one different from the next, 92 small homes intended for a working class population were completed in 1926. This development gives the district a strong identity, an unusual thing in Paris. In other words it is a Parisian neighborhood in all its authenticity.
Porte de Bagnolet, an authentic part of Paris
You can find a market, stores, small bistros, and some unusual spots worth visiting. Square Séverine (between Boulevard Mortier and Rue Dulaure) has beautiful lawns and a wide variety of trees. There are playgrounds, ping pong tables, and a skating park- perfect for a family getaway!
To get to the country part of Campagne à Paris, take the steps up from Boulevard Mortier and Rue Géo Chavez. You’ll be greeted by small, tranquil paths, charming single-family houses, and flower-filled gardens – nothing but calm and serenity.
An alternative way to discover neighborhood life
Every Sunday morning, a market with mouthwatering prices is held on Boulevard Mortier, between No. 90 and Rue Maurice Berteaux. Food stores, bars and restaurants are also easily affordable. The district is served by the Porte de Bagnolet (line 3) and Pelleport (line 3bis) metro stations.
We have a wide range of apartments avaliable for rent in the Porte de Bagnolet area for your next stay in Paris.
