Tranquility and opulence in the Parc Monceau district.

The Parc Monceau district lies between Rue de Courcelles and Boulevard Malesherbes.

In the 18th century, Louis-Philippe d’Orléans, Duke of Chartres, had a residence on the Monceau plain surrounded by a park strewn with exotic monuments known as fabriques and in the 19th century, the city of Paris bought the land to create a public park. Around it, the Pereire brothers, famous financiers, created a luxury housing development with mansions and gated avenues with four monumental gold-plated iron gates.

Monceau park, breathing life into the north of Paris

With its straight avenues bordered with Haussmann-style facades and the winding lanes in Monceau park, the area is pervaded by an air of tranquility and opulence, giving families a warm welcome.

Designed in the 19th century by the landscape gardener Alphand, Parc Monceau (20 acres) offers an enchanting setting planted with beautiful trees and livened up with decorative elements. At the entrance to the park stands a fabulous rotunda, built as part of the Mur des Fermiers Généraux and constructed by Ledoux at the end of the 18th century.

Around Parc du Monceau

Although it has local conveniences, the Monceau district also has several sumptuous sites. These include Hédiard (106 Boulevard de Courcelles), a luxury delicatessen an annex of the famous parent store on Place de la Madeleine. The district is served by the Courcelles, Monceau (line 2), Villiers (lines 2 and 3), and Malesherbes (line 3) metro stations.
